Who We Are

The Middle (for men) is a podcast born from a friendship.

Conversations between Gary and John flowed freely, and covered a wide range of topics: mental health, personal relationships, politics, and more. It occurred to them that other men might be interested in engaging in these discussion. The Middle (for men) explores various issues from the perspective of two men.

  • John Beradino

    John Beradino is a licensed clinical psychologist who currently has a private practice in Boise, Idaho. He specializes in working with trauma populations and individuals with depression, addictive behaviors, and anxiety disorders. John utilizes a depth psychological approach that uncovers and explores the various dimensions of protective strategies that both preserve safety and structure, but also contradict and undermine growth. John has spent a majority of his career working with the Veteran community and the homeless Veteran population in California and Idaho. His training and background have been in providing crisis intervention and individual psychotherapy for Veterans with co-occurring disorders. John worked as a liaison for the Restorative Justice program aiding Veterans with criminal cases and advocating for mental health treatment in lieu of incarceration. He was the lead clinical advisor for Operation Welcome Home, a groundbreaking rehabilitation program for Iraq and Afghanistan (OIF/OEF) Veterans, who needed therapeutic support for reintegrating into the community after military service. John collaborated on research and grant writing for housing hundreds of Veterans in Los Angeles County. He has been an advocate and consultant before numerous city councils and boards seeking to prioritize mental health services for homeless Veterans suffering with co-morbid PTSD and substance use. John co-founded a non-profit organization that provided mindfulness-based resources for Veterans and caregivers of Veterans on how to utilize alternative and integrative therapies to improve one’s quality of mental hygiene.

  • Gary Eelman

    Gary Eelman has spent his career of 53 years in heavy industry leadership and sales positions having risen from lower ranks to senior executive levels. Along his journey he has accomplished a great deal with his primary interests in people. He has taught leadership skills classes, complex aircraft instruction, and also business related classes at Boise State University. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot rating, Certified Flight Instructor Certificates in multi-engine and instrument aircraft in addition to various leadership certificates from institutions such as the Center for Creative Leadership. He is semi-retired and finds that his association with John Beradino, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, provides interesting and energetic dynamics as the two discuss various life topics from the perspective of men.
